Light in art, light in us

The exhibition is prepared in cooperation with Bratislava Gallery where it had its premiere in October. In the exhibition are presented almost 100 art works with the character of light in the slovak art of 20th and 21st century. Also two instalations of Jana Želibská and Ladislav Čarný are componated into the exhibition, that are created especially for this exhibition and given space. The exhibition and the catalogue present different aspects and figurations of light phenomen and on basis of author´s researches of light phenomen is presented in differnet contexts and in smaller thematic and problem ranges. In exhibition and in catalogue are presented most famous representatives of slovak visual art of 20th and 21st century who in their works dealed with light or created light phenomen with interesting, significant or unique method.
Light phenomen – not only like the theme but also like concomitant and fundamental event of our life – has fascinated human till immemorial times, attributed to it basic but also miraculous and spirit power. The light plays in our lives one of the most important role not only in art but also in other science branches like biology, physics, philosophy and the others. Since prehistory era visual figuration of light has been characterized by attribute to amaze us. Whole history of art assures us about it, and that is why it is extremely important to explore this phenomen in art and present it in its compactibility and complexity. 
Curator of this exhibition and author of the catalogue in her researches has been longer interested in phenomen of light in visual art of 20th and 21st century and also in philosophy and the other traditional cultures. She viewed some aspects of this case and on the bases of her researches light phenomen will be presented in different contexts and other thematic and problematic areas like f. e. natural light, Sun and sunlight, moonlight, imagination of fire, artificial light, light and dark, „spiritual“ light, „inner“ light, divine light, ray, kinds of light in painting, light and colour, Barbisons, impresionism, luminism, kinetic art, pop art, sources of light, chiaroscuro, shadow, photography and its usage in visual art, media art and the others. Each problem, question will be explained right in the exhibition in short texts nearby the concrete works to help the public to look at the light phenomen in visual art through experienced eye.
